Our devotional notes made us smile this morning. The title was SHAKE IT OFF and the scripture used was Acts 28:5 the one about Paul shaking off the snake into the fire. As we near the end of 2012 we can look back and see a few snakes that tried to bite us. It has been an incredibly challenging year! While many amazing breakthroughs came in the ministry there were also many personal challenges.
The devotional notes went on to tell the story of a farmer whose mule fell into a well. Since he had no way to get him out, he decided to bury him there. He got a truckload of dirt and dumped it on top of the mule. But instead of lying down under it, the mule started kicking and snorting until he worked his way to the top of it. This continued all afternoon. Truckload after truckload, the mule just kept shaking it off and stepping on top of it. Finally when the dirt reached the top of the well the mule just snorted and walked away, a dirtier but a wiser mule. What was intended to bury him, just brought him out on top. The circumstances we walked through in 2012 certainly tried to bury us but we have been like that stubborn old mule. We have grown in our relationship with God, we have grown in our resolve to do His will no matter what the cost and we have grown in our appreciation of all the little blessings that God has given.
We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the help and support during this last year. Thank you for your prayers, financial support, emails, facebook posts, phonecalls and gifts. We know you can never fully appreciate what that meant to us.
‘…Forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forward to those things which are ahead’ (Philippians 3:13 NKJV).
There are many wonderful opportunities ahead! We praise God for the opportunity to minister in new countries in 2013.
