We are approaching the six-year mark in Hungary. We are feeling tired and the house is a little tired too. Our bedroom was very much in need of some fresh paint and as we pulled out furniture we realized how much dust had settled and that we needed to blow away some cobwebs.
A few years ago we were at a marriage seminar, we were all given some ring polish and asked to polish our wedding rings. The couple who had been married the longest were asked to come to the front and show us the accumulation of dirt that had built up over the years on their rings. Then the couple who had been married for the shortest amount of time were asked to do the same. The interesting thing was that both sets of rings needed polished. So if you have been married for a short time or you feel like you have been married for a century it’s time to take a look at your marriage and make sure there aren’t areas you are neglecting.
Time and the daily routine not only shows wear and tear in our homes but wear and tear becomes visible in our relationship. It’s important to invest time and energy as a couple. Maybe it’s time to take a weekend break away together or even have a second honeymoon! The main thing to remember is that marriage takes maintenance and investment and the result of that is a joy-filled relationship!
